What I really like here, is the background texture you used, it really adds more to the character. And especially how you had the string drag out a little and revealed it.
The shadowing as well really adds to the depression, like she's gonna sink into the floor.
The pose obviously fits the theme as well.
However, I think what would emphasize more on this theme are the following:
-Have the image itself darker
-If the girl either dressed in a little more black or had scars and bruises on her she'd look more convincing in the picture.
-Maybe have her hold a knife or have one equipped.
The proportion and such is well done. I really like the blurs you textured with and this is quite a piece. One that fellow teens can really understand and relate to.
